Handgun Silhouette

Metallic handgun silhouette shooting is a discipline that involves shooting at steel targets representing game animals at varying distances, seeking to knock the metal target over. Metallic silhouette is shot with large bore handguns from the prone position with only body support out to 200 meters. The targets that are typically used are in the shapes of rams, turkeys, pigs, and chickens, which are cut to different scales and set at varying distances from the shooter.

At Douglas Ridge Rifle Club, we shoot steel silhouette targets at 50, 100, 150, and 200 meters with single-shot, revolver, and occasionally, semi-automatic handguns. The object is to knock over each target with a single shot, then move to the next target.
